Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of H D Kumaraswamy as the Karnataka Chief Minister at Kanthirava Stadium on Monday, May 21, at around noon.
Informed sources said that Kumaraswamy had called up KCR to invite him to attend the swearing-in which was taking place after B S Yeddyurappa resigned as Chief Minister, post which the Congress-JD(S) combine got an invitation from Governor Vajhubhai Vala on Saturday to form the government.
Kumaraswamy told the media in Bengaluru that both the two Telugu state Chief Ministers K Chandrashekar Rao and Chandrababu Naidu would be attending his swearing-in ceremony. He said that he had also extended invitations to AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee, former UP CM Mayavati and other top leaders.
For the uninitiated, KCR has already reached out to the JD(S) by meeting former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy as part of his efforts to form a front against the BJP and the Congress.
According to informed sources, KCR will attend Kumaraswamy's swearing-in ceremony. However, if it appears to him at the last minute that it would be embarrassing to go given the vitriol he constantly spews against the Congress which is a partner in the Kumaraswamy government, he is likely to depute IT Minister K T Rama Rao to the program.
