Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said that he would sit on a dharna at Charminar if the city police do not stop fining hawkers plying their wares on the roads.
KCR told representatives of the Hawkers' Union that he would apprise Chief Minister K Rosaiah, when he meets him next, of the hardships the hawkers face when they try to eke out a living.
The TRS chief was invited by the Hawkers Union to highlight their plight. The Union members told KCR that the police imposes a fine of Rs. 300 per day on them for plying their wares on the roads or on push-carts.
Terming the imposition of fines as 'oppression', KCR said he would fight to improve the plight of the hawkers plight till the 'atrocities' stop.
