The Chief Minister of the state K Chandrashekar Rao today faulted the behaviour of the Congress MLAs in the Assembly during question hour.
Rebutting the allegations of the opposition MLAs that funds allocated to the villages of the state were being diverted, he said that it was not proper for the members to speak whatever they felt like at the drop of a hat, without getting their facts right.
Responding to allegations by CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and Congress MLA Seethakka who claimed that several village sarpanches were committing suicides due to non-release of the funds by the state government and having to pay salaries of the staff themselves, and that the state government was giving the funds only to those villages ruled by the TRS, KCR claimed that the government had issued GOs as per the Telangana State Panchayat Raj Act 2018, and was operating according to them.
He alleged that the sarpanches had in fact suffered a lot during the rule of the previous governments, and that the sarpanches of Telangana were now leading a life of dignity thanks to the policies of the TRS government.
He added that several union ministers too had heaped praises on the sarpanches of the state, with many sarpanches even receiving awards from the Prime Minister of the country and from the Niti Aayog.
KCR also said that the state was not getting any separate funds from the union government, and that the state got funds only as per the recommendations of the Finance Commission. Despite that the government was giving adequate funds to the village sarpanches as also powers to discharge their duties.
Earlier, Congress MLA Seethakka raised the question of the diversion of the funds along with CLP leader Vikramarka. She alleged that Speaker was not giving time to the opposition MLAs in the house.
