Congress activists staged a protest today at the farmhouse of former Chief Minister and Opposition leader K Chandrashekar Rao in Erravalli village of Siddipet district alleging that the BRS chief had been neglecting his duties as Leader of the Opposition.
Led by Anksha Reddy, president of the Gajwel Congress unit, the protesters assembled outside the farmhouse, displaying placards and chanting slogans urging KCR to participate in the ongoing Telangana Legislative Assembly session and address pressing concerns affecting the Gajwel Assembly constituency.
They accused him of seeking electoral support from the people of Gajwel but failing to raise the people's issues in the Assembly.
As per reports, the protest reflected growing political tensions between the ruling Congress government and the BRS leadership. Congress leaders have repeatedly criticised KCR for delivering speeches and conducting political outreach from his farmhouse in Erravalli rather than actively participating in Assembly proceedings, where key debates on governance and development issues are underway. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has challenged KCR multiple times to attend the Assembly sessions instead of speaking from the farmhouse, and said that the latter had a constitutional duty to represent his constituents within the legislative forum.
Political observers note that Erravalli - KCR's native village and the site of his farmhouse - is often cited by both supporters and critics as a hub of his post-power political activity. KCR has used the location to meet party leaders and plan public outreach campaigns, including large BRS public meetings and rallies.
The protest in Siddipet comes amid broader political mobilisation by the Congress in the district and neighbouring areas as it seeks to consolidate its presence in traditional BRS strongholds. Party workers say that their mobilisation aims to pressure the BRS leadership to shift focus back to governance and legislative accountability, rather than addressing supporters solely through external platforms.
The protest concluded peacefully, with Congress leaders vowing to continue pressure on the BRS chief to attend the Assembly and answer questions related to development, water management and constituency issues.
