Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today reiterated that the Dalit Bandhu scheme would be restarted in Huzurabad on November 4 after the Model Code of Conduct ceased to apply.
Rao was re-elected the TRS president unanimously during the party's plenary at Hitex today. Giving his presidential remarks, the TRS boss castigated the EC for stalling Dalit Bandhu.
He claimed that the EC had crossed its limits and violated the constitution by stalling a development program which had begun already, and alleged that it was done at the behest of the opposition parties.
"However, the EC's writ will run only until November 3. Dalit Bandhu will be continued from November 4 in Huzurabad and other four mandals in the state. The government will spend Rs 1.70 lakh crore for Dalit Bandhu, and soon launch similar programs for the BCs, MBCs and poor sections of the society," KCR said. "And the amount being spent for Dalit Bandhu will multiply to a Rs 10 lakh crore growth in GDP in the future in 7 years."
KCR also expressed disappointment at the High Court not allowing the TRS its public meetings planned in Huzurabad for the by-election on October 30.
"I do not understand why the court came in the way of our meetings. The Opposition files random cases against our party's public meetings, and the court concurs. We'll nevertheless conduct the meetings, possibly in some places nearby," the CM said.
Rao also announced that the TRS party offices were getting completed and almost ready for opening in all the districts. The party would also start construction of the TRS office in Delhi soon as the Centre had given land, he added.
Earlier, the plenary, conducted to mark 20 years of the TRS, elected KCR as its president unanimously. The meeting then passed seven resolutions thanking KCR for serving as the TRS president and for his contributions to the party and the state.
6,000 TRS leaders from across the state reportedly attended the plenary. There were two sessions punctuated by lunch.
