Ex-Gadwal MLA (or incumbent MLA - it's all rather fuzzy now) Krishna Mohan Reddy, of the BRS, has written a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to impose a stay on further action with regard to his disqualification as MLA.
Reddy was disqualified as the Gadwal MLA by the Telangana High Court for submitting a false affidavit in the 2018 Assembly elections. The ECI then instructed the State Election Commission, the Telangana Chief Secretary and the Assembly Secretary to officially announce D K Aruna, a BJP National Vice-President, as the MLA for the constituency as directed by the High Court.
In the letter given to the Election Commission today, the BRS MLA said that a petition had been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the judgement given by the Telangana High Court, and that the petition would be heard on September 11. The ECI should therefore impose a stay and stop further proceedings on the implementation of the High Court order, he said.
