The party strongly condemned the arrest of MRPS leader Krishna Madiga, and alleged that his arrest was illegal and aimed at suppressing his voice.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was not sincere about the issue of the categorisation of the Scheduled Castes.
Addressing a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday evening, Reddy strongly condemned the arrest of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) leader Krishna Madiga. He alleged that Madiga's arrest was illegal and aimed at suppressing the latter's voice. Calling it one more instance of KCR's attitude towards the issue, he also pointed out that the Chief Minister had promised to take an all-party delegation to the Centre to pursue the issue of SC categorisation, but had neither taken the delegation nor made any attempts to resolve the categorisation issue.
The TPCC chief also welcomed the hundreds of Osmania University students who joined the Congress party today, and recalled the role played by students during the Telangana statehood movement. He paid rich tributes to those who had laid down their lives and also those who had sacrificed their careers for the sake of statehood. He alleged that the present TRS government had unfortunately completely ignored those sacrifices, and all the benefits of the statehood were being extracted by only the KCR family. He exhorted the students' community to join the struggle against the "anti-people" policies of the TRS government.
He also condemned the TRS government for the cancellation of National Science Congress at the OU, and said that the cancellation of such a prestigious event had badly hurt the image of the university, Hyderabad and the entire state. He alleged that the event was cancelled at the instance of the Chief Minister, who he claimed was trying to portray the students of OU in a poor light. The cancellation of the Congress however only showed the TRS government as inefficient, he claimed.
Reddy also slammed the TRS government for its failure to provide employment to lakhs of jobless youth in the state. He said that the government had failed to fill even the vacancies that had existed at the time of the creation of Telangana. Of the over one lakh vacancies in various departments, only 7,000 posts had been filled during the last 40 months, he claimed. He said that the Congress, after returning to power in 2019, would create lakhs of jobs, and would also provide an allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month to all jobless youth.
The meeting was attended by ex-MP V Hanumantha Rao, AICC Secretary Madhu Yakshi Goud, ex-MLA Marri Sashidhar Reddy and other leaders.
