Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy described Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as the most corrupt CM in India, and alleged that the KCR family wealth rivalled that of the Ambanis and the Adanis.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy strongly condemned the TRS leaders for their remarks against the Congress and its leaders that the latter were obstructing irrigation projects by filing court cases. He alleged that KCR was trying to hide the truth by engaging in a political blame game.
"The Congress never went against the people's interests, while KCR family's only aim is accumulation of illegal wealth," he claimed.
Reacting to the remarks made by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on the Kaleshwaram project, the TPCC chief accused Rao of acting exactly the same way that Joseph Goebbels, the Minister of Propaganda in Hitler's cabinet, acted in Nazi Germany.
"Unlike the TRS leaders, we are not habituated to indulging in cheap talk. Rao's language and tone is of a highly inferior nature," he said. "Is it not true that works worth thousands of crores were assigned to selected contractors through a single tender?" he asked, slamming the TRS government for not calling for global tenders for such a large project and challenging Rao to make the tender documents public.
He also said that the TRS government was lying about the availability of Godavari water throughout the year at Tummadi Hatti, and that it had gone ahead with the construction against the recommendation by an expert committee.
Stating that Telangana was not KCR's jagir (fiefdom) that he could block opposition parties and the people from filing cases against its "corrupt actions", he said that the Congress would continue to raise issues that hurt the interests of the people, especially the farmers.
He also claimed that the party would win more than 75 seats if elections were held today, and reiterated that the "next Congress government" would waive crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakhs in a single take.
