Hyderabad | 29th December 2017
Laying the foundation stone for the "Golla And Kuruma Welfare Bhavan And Hostel" at Kokapet in Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that the Yadavas (people of the Golla and Kuruma castes) of the state would soon become "rich" and lead India in its quest for development with their persistent efforts. He also promised the community the state's support at all times.

Speaking at the public meeting at the event, the CM said that the TRS government was making constant efforts for the all-round development of the state, and that no community or caste would be deprived of food or work for livelihood under his government.

The sheep scheme of the government was designed in the same spirit for the welfare of the 30-odd lakh Yadavas in the state, he stated. The scheme had been implemented to regulate the transport of 650 lorries of sheep and goats to Telangana, including 350 lorries to Hyderabad alone and about 25 fish lorries to the Ramnagar market, he said. He also mentioned that the state had distributed sheep to 7.61 lakh individuals from the community so far, and that the Yadavas would also be given subsidies from the BC Welfare department.

The CM also spoke of the 100 mobile vans pressed in to provide health services to animals, which he said was the brainchild of Animal Husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. He said that he had also asked the minister to undertake a foreign tour to study the best practices in the meat processing industry in order to improve exports.

Addressing certain other concerns of the community, he stated that he had directed the District Collectors across the state to allow sheep to graze at the over 12 lakh fruit gardens present in the state.

Stating that 35 lakh sheep in the state had given birth to 13 lakh sheep bringing the state total to 48 lakh, he said that the Yadavas would become rich in the next three to four years.

Reacting to news reports that some members of the community were selling the sheep given to them by the government to make money, he asked them to desist from such practices.

Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Jogu Ramanna and Mahender Reddy among others were also present the event.
