KCR Lays Foundation For Gattu Lift Irrigation Project
The Telangana CM today laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Gattu lift irrigation project at the Penchikalapadu area in Jogulamba Gadwal district.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Gattu lift irrigation project at the Penchikalapadu area in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
The project, when complete, will result in the parched lands of Gadwal and Gattu receiving Krishna river waters, bringing under irrigation 33,000 acres in Gattu and Dharur mandals.
The government has sanctioned Rs 554 crores for the project.
KCR earlier also inspected the Tummilla lift works nearby along with a team of officials.
"1,20,000 acres between the Krishna and Tungabhadra river ayacut area will get irrigation waters once the Tummilla and Gattu irrigation projects are completed. 1,04,000 acres through Jurala, 2,50,000 acres through Nettempadu, 2,50,000 acres through Bheema, 50,000 acres through Koil sagar and 87,500 acres through RDS (Tummilla) will be irrigated through lift irrigation projects," the CM said.
It is also proposed to provide drinking water through these projects.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Planning Commission Vice-Chairman S Niranjan Reddy, TRS Parliamentary Party leader K Keshava Rao, IDC Chairman Shankar Reddy, irrigation department ENC Muralidhar, GENCO Director S E Khagender, SPCDCL Director Srinivas Reddy and CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal were among those who accompanied the CM.
