The Telangana Chief Minister called the initiative a victory of the TRS government and announced special increments to the electricity board employees.
Hyderabad | 1st January 2018
Supplying 24-hour high quality, uninterrupted power to all sectors, and free power to the farm sector, was a wonderful achievement of the TRS government, said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao flagging off the state government's scheme to give free uninterrupted power supply to the farm sector starting January 1.
TS Genco and TS Transco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, and other Genco, Transco, SPDCL and NPDCL officials were present on the occasion, and the CM personally congratulated each official by name.
Addressing the meeting, the CM described the achievement as a wonderful victory for the youngest state in the country. Telangana would go down in history as the first state in the country to supply 24-hour high quality, uninterrupted and free power to the farm sector, and also to supply power round-the-clock to all the sectors, and the whole nation was now looking up to the state for the revolutionary changes it had brought about in the power sector, he said. He shared that he was already receiving several congratulatory messages from other states.
He attributed the achievement to the employees of the various electricity organisations across the state, and lauded them for pushing the state from power deficit to power sufficient. He said that farmers and people all over the state were grateful to the employees for their services and for the New Year gift that the latter had given them, and as a reward, announced a "New Year gift" for the employees themselves - a special increment with effect from January 1, 2018.
The CM added that though this scheme had never been mentioned in the TRS manifesto, and though the TRS had never made any promise regarding the same, the decision had been taken keeping in view the "untold misery" of the farmers. He shared that though the initial plan had been to start supply from February/March 2018, the decision had been preponed to benefit farmers in the Rabi season. He said that this was made possible through proper planning and execution alone.
Thanking the CM for his generous gesture of announcing special increments to the electricity board employees, Genco and Transco CMD Prabhakar Rao stated that this decision by the Chief Minister would inspire the employees to work with double the vigour. He also added that it was due to the CM's guidance and vision alone that the electricity organisations were able to achieve success.
TSERC Chairman Ismail Ali Khan, SPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy, Transco JMD Srinivas Rao, SPDCL Director Kamaluddin Ali Khan, Transco Director G Narsing Rao, PGCEL ED V Sekhar, and Genco Directors Ashok Kumar, Venkat Rajam and Lalit Kumar were amongst those who were present on the occasion.
