Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday said that his government's aim was to complete all the irrigation projects meant for providing water to the agriculture sector, at the earliest.
The CM, currently on a three-day tour of Karimnagar district, on Thursday visited the Tupakulagudem barrage, Medigadda barrage, Kannepally pump house, Annaram barrage and Siripuram barrage along with public representatives, and interacted with the officials and representatives of the working agencies in charge of the project sites.
Stressing on the need to expedite the ongoing works, the CM asked the officials concerned to work in three shifts to complete the barrages, sub-stations, pump houses and canal works simultaneously.
He later enquired with the officials about the flow of the floodwaters in the Godavari river at Toopakulagudem. The officials informed the CM that the flow was at 6,000 cusecs.
The CM was accompanied by ministers T Harish Rao and Etela Rajender, MPs Vinod Kumar and B Suman, Chief Secretary S P Singh, DGP Mahender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) S K Joshi, TS Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, Bhoopalpally collector Murali, and other irrigation officials.
