Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that he would soon announce good news for the people of the state, and the farmers in specific.
The decision would surprise entire country, the Chief Minister said.
Along with seer Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swami, KCR today launched the Konda Pochamma Sagar project that will offer water for irrigation and drinking.
The duo performed the Sudarsana and the Chandi yagams at the project site and released the Godavari waters near Markuk village in Medak district.
The reservoir has been built in a circular shape of 15.8 km circumference, with an expenditure of Rs 1,540 crore, and has a 15 TMC capacity capable of irrigating 2,85,220 acres in Siddipet, Sanga Reddy, Medak, Medchal and Yadadri districts. It has three sluice gates to distribute waters on divergent routes - the first canal starts at Sangareddy to supply waters to Medak, Siddipet and Sanga Reddy; the second from Jagadevour will give waters to Yadadri district; and the third from the Keshavapur reservoir near the Shamirpet area will give drinking waters to the twin cities.
The facility will in all irrigate about 3 lakh acres in the districts, and provide drinking water to Hyderabad, too.
KCR later told the media that the reservoir could not have been completed without the support of the land owners and the people of the region.
The government had offered the appropriate compensation, and would continue to support the people who had given their lands, he said.
"One of our main priorities is the completion of the irrigation projects and pushing farm production in the state," KCR asserted.
