In the run-up to the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday launched another attack against the caretaker Chief Minister KCR and his TRS.
Reddy questioned the double standards adopted by KCR when it came to attacking rival political parties. He asked how the TRS chief could join hands with the MIM despite its strong opposition to a separate Telangana.
"KCR is walking together with the MIM, which had opposed the formation of Telangana. But he is attacking the Congress which created Telangana," he said.
Stating that many people opposed statehood for Telangana, Reddy said that the dream of crores of people of Telangana had turned into reality thanks to then Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and that KCR himself acknowledged this fact.
Agreeing that the Congress had lost the 2014 Telangana Assembly elections due to strong anti-incumbency and other reasons, Reddy alleged that KCR had, however, squandered that chance that that had offered him by turning the State into a hub of corruption under his rule instead of a "Bangaru Telangana".
He also pointed out that KCR had become the CM of Telangana by going back on his promise to make a dalit leader the first CM of the State.
Commenting on the criticism of KCR against the Congress-led grand alliance (opposition alliance of the Congress, the TDP, the TJS, and the CPI), Reddy said that KCR was scared of the grand alliance.
"He is having sleepless nights. KCR told the world that he is not worried about any kind of alliance in the state when he dissolved the state assembly. However, now, he is completely scared of facing a humiliating defeat in the elections," Reddy said.
Predicting a landslide victory for the grand alliance in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, Reddy said that the Mahakootami would form the government on December 12, 2018.
