Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday reiterated that the State Government would provide all facilities to the police personnel in the State.
Addressing the Police Martyrs Commemoration Day function at the Goshamahal Police Grounds, the CM also announced the State Government's decision to enhance the compensation for police martyrs.
He said that the compensation for Constables and Head Constables had been enhanced from the present Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 40 lakhs.
The same will be Rs 45 lakhs for Sub-Inspectors, Rs 50 lakhs for Circle Inspectors and DSPs, and Rs 1 crore for IPS officers.
He assured that the compensation amount would be paid to the families of the martyr within one week.
He also announced an increase in the daily allowance of police constables from Rs 90 to Rs 250.
He said that the government would also provide free weekly medical check-ups for personnel who had completed 40 years in service.
He also announced that orders would be issued soon to grant the Gazetted rank to Sub-Inspectors.
KCR added that 50,000 CUG phones too would be provided to the police personnel in the State.
Praising the services being rendered by the police personnel, the Chief Minister advised them to improve their relationship with the common people.
He said that the government had given top priority to the maintenance of law and order in the State. He said that only a peaceful atmosphere would bring more investments, which would be beneficial to everyone in the State.
Earlier, Governor E S L Narasimhan paid homage to the police martyrs.
Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, DGP Anurag Sharma and other senior police officials were present on the occasion. (INN)
