Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday did not see anything wrong in the sprouting up of numerous bodies espousing the cause of separate Telangana state.
Addressing journalists, who had converged in the city from various districts in Telangana region following the call given by Telangana Journalists Forum at RTC Kalyana Mantapam, KCR said that the main aim of Telangana people was the formation of a separate state.
"For the purpose of bifurcation of state, we will form any number of unions, parties and associations", KCR said.
He said that the separate statehood movement had got good support and response from all sections of people in Telangana region.
Reacting to Director General Of Police K Aravinda Rao's statement that additional forces would be sought from centre to tackle any untoward situation in the aftermath of the submission of the Srikrishna Commission Report, the TRS leader said, "Nobody can crush the Telangana agitation with rubber bullets and tear gas shells. The movement came from the hearts of people."
"There is no need for agitation if the government stands by its promise on Telangana state formation," KCR added.
He asked the Telangana journalists to form a separate union for themselves by breaking away from the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists. The TRS chief also announced a financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh for the new union.
Telangana People's Front President and Balladeer Gaddar said that the Telangana leaders would launch non-cooperative movement if the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission report went against the aspirations of the Telangana people.
The government would face serious consequences if the commission's report was unfavourabe, Gaddar warned.
BJP leaders Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and Bandaru Dattatreya, Rastriya Lok Dal leader Ajit Singh, senior Congress leader and MP Madhu Yashki Goud, TDP leader Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and others took part in the meeting.
