KCR Critical, CM Meets Sonia

Congress MLAs sign a petition in favour of a separate Telangana
Hyderabad | 9th December 2009
KCR, who is in the 11th day of his fast-unto-death for the cause of a separate state for Telangana, is in a critical condition now, NIMS doctors said.

Manmohan Singh, who has returned form Russia, is also being apprised of the situation in Andhra Pradesh. A decision on the way forward is expected this evening after the AP CM meets Sonia Gandhi.

The issue has rocked both the state Legislative Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha. Twice today, the Speaker had to adjourn the Assembly. Earlier today, TRS party leaders had staged a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue.

28 Congress MLAs have signed a petition in favour of a separate Telangana state, to be given to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Meanwhile, the High Court has questioned the government’s order to shut down hostels and messes across university, and has demanded that they be opened immediately.
