The Telangana Congress on Sunday accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of cheating the Dalits in the state.
Speaking on the occasion of the 108th birth anniversary of freedom fighter and social reformer Babu Jagjeevan Ram at Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress leaders listed out the failures of the TRS government with regard to the welfare of the Dalits.
The function, organised by the TPCC SC Cell, was addressed by TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Rajya Sabha MP Palwai Govardhan Reddy and other leaders.
The Congress leaders said that KCR had promised to make a Dalit the first Chief Minister of Telangana. However, after coming to power, KCR himself became the Chief Minister, and even sacked a Dalit Deputy CM in an unceremonious manner.
Stating that injustices were being done to Dalits by the TRS government, the Congress leaders demanded that the government fulfill its promise of giving three acres of land each to poor Dalit families.
The leaders paid rich tributes to Babu Jagjeevan Ram and recalled his services to the nation. (INN)
