Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced a Rs 26-crore bonanza for Muslims for the pious Ramzan festival.
Speaking to mediapersons at his camp office Thursday, the Chief Minister said he would offer, through the Wakf Board, a Rs 1,000 monthly salary to all Imams and Mouzans in 5,000 mosques across the state.
KCR also said that to honour the Muslim brethren, Dawat-e-Ifthar parties would be organized across the state in a grand manner, for communal amity and brotherhood in line with the Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb of Hyderabad. The parties will be conducted at 100 mosques in Hyderabad, and in one mosque in every Assembly segment.
The Chief Secretary would monitor the arrangements for the festivities, the Chief Minister said.
A Dawat-e-Ifthar party in Hyderabad will be held for over 4,000 people at the Nizam College grounds on July 8. KCR stated that he would participate in the party, and invite all the leaders of all political parties, ministers, MPs, MLAs, district Collectors and scribes to attend it.
The various district Collectors should conduct the Ramzan festival officially and ensure that Muslims participate in a peaceful and grand manner, he directed.
KCR added that the Imams of mosques should distribute clothes worth Rs 500 to every poor Muslim, which would be paid for by the government. He also directed mass feeding at all orphanages through a spend of Rs 25 lakhs.
While some 3,000 mosques are registered with Wakf Board, some 1,500 unregistered mosques will also get the benefit of free clothes worth Rs 9.75 crores and food worth Rs 4 crores, and have some other expenses taken care of via a Rs 3 crore fund.
"This is a beginning to provide succour to poor Muslims, and we will extend more help in future," KCR said. (NSS)
