Telangana Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao will leave for New Delhi tomorrow to meet Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and seek flood relief for Hyderabad and the rest of the State.
KTR directed the Special Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Ministry to prepare a comprehensive report on the losses incurred by the GHMC as well as all other municipalities in the State.
After receiving a report from the Secretary, the minister will submit it to Naidu requesting funds for the renovation of roads and other basic amenities which were damaged to a huge extent in the week-long downpours.
"Hopefully the Centre will hear our plea and release funds for Hyderabad and the rest of Telangana. We are hoping for a positive response because the Union government has already qualified 12 towns in Telangana as 'backward' under the Atal Mission For Rejuvenation And Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme and will fund their development. The relief funds will only be a minute addition to the existing scheme," he said.
KTR is likely to stay in New Delhi till the month-end as the Centre has invited him to INDOSAN (India Sanitation Conference) 2016, which is to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 30.
