BRS working president K T Rama Rao today criticised the announcement of Rs 5 lakh as compensation for the families of those who lost their lives due to floods in the State as unfair and cruel.
He demanded that the Congress government announce a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the families of each of the flood victims.
Taking to his Twitter handle, he said that in the past CM Revanth Reddy, in his capacity as PCC president, had promised to give Rs 25 lakh to the families of each of those who lost their lives in floods, and added that since Reddy was in power now, he should keep his promise and pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh.
"There can be no greater fraud than for the Chief Minister to not keep the promise he made to the families of those who died in the floods," he said.
He also said that the CM, who had promised to give Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to those whose houses were damaged due to the floods, should keep his promise now.
He alleged that the loss of lives in the State was due to the inefficiency, inaction and lack of prior planning of the government, and suggested that steps be taken to save the lives of and reassure the people of the flood-affected areas.
