4 New Fishing Harbours In AP

New fishing harbours to be developed at Antarvedi, Nizampatnam, Uppada and Juvvaladinne.

With the assistance of the Centre, the State government will establish 4 fishing harbors in the AP, Animal Husbandry Minister K Parthasarathy stated on Tuesday.

Talking to media persons after attending a review meeting convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah at the Secretariat, the minister said the Centre would have a 75% share and the State would have a 25% share, in the harbours constructed under the project.

The harbours will be developed at Antarvedi, Nizampatnam, Uppada and Juvvaladinne.

Parthasarathy revealed that the Centre will bear the entire cost for the construction of the harbor at Antarvedi.

Parthasarathy said that the government will set up a massive dairy in the capital with an estimate cost of Rs. 50 crores, to promote the dairy industry and increase milk production in the State.

Parthasarathy said that the mega dairy project would be completed in a 3-year period.

The Animal Husbandry Minister said that 7 lakh people were dependent on the rearing of animals in the state. Parthasarathy said that the NABARD had come forward to sanction loans for sheep rearers,.

The minister revealed that the government has decided to sanction sheep for 7 lakh rearer families through NABARD, with an estimated cost of Rs. 270 crore.

Parthasarathy said that the meeting also decided to set up 100 Jeevan Mithra groups to insure 5 lakh sheep during that year.

The minister revealed that a mobile animal clinic would be set up under each district, and that the government would recruit 105 veterinary assistant surgeons, 35 veterinary doctors, 400 paramedical staff in animal husbandry hospitals.

Parthasarathy said that taxes levied on fish and animal markets would be utilized for providing infrastructure facilities in animal husbandry department.

The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the Chief Minister had agreed to release Rs. 60 crores to undertake repair works to 3,000 dilapidated veterinary hospitals in the State.

Parthasarathy said salaries of Gopala Mithra employees will be increased from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,000.
