The police today reportedly surrounded the residence of Praja Santhi Party president K A Paul in Ameerpet, and put him under house arrest.
On receipt of the information that Paul was preparing to go to the office of the Director General of Police and complain about the alleged attack on him in Siddipet on Monday and to demand the suspension of the Sircilla SP, DSP and circle inspector, the police surrounded his house and put him under house arrest.
The police also tightened the bandobust at the office of the DGP.
Speaking to mediapersons at his house later, Paul said that Monday (May 2) would remain a Black Day in the history of Telangana as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son K T Rama Rao had organized a physical attack on him on that day.
He alleged that the attacker was a beneficiary of a free double bedroom house, and that KTR was the brain behind the attack.
He however said that he was not afraid of either KCR or KTR.
Giving the sequence of incidents, Paul said that he had gone to Siddipet on the invitation of some of the farmers who had lost their crops in 150 acres, with some farmers even committing suicide due to that.
He said that he was stopped by the police on his way to Sircilla, and a group of TRS leaders had then came to the spot and accused him of berating the farmers, which he claimed was utterly false.
The leaders of all parties' and of all castes had condemned the incident, he claimed.
Paul said that he had been trying to speak with the DGP on the phone since Monday, but that nobody was lifting the phone. And now the police had put him under house arrest in order to prevent him from meeting the State's police chief, he claimed.
Asking whether his attempt to meet the farmers was wrong, he said that the attack on him amounted to an attack on people of Telangana.
Claiming that permissions were being given to all political parties, Paul asked why he was not being given police permission for his meetings.
He said that he was ready for a public debate on the issue. He also claimed that he was in touch with poll strategist Prashant Kishor.
