Former MP and actress Vijayashanti, who defected to the Congress from the BJP, today said that she had rejoined the Congress to oust CM K Chandrashekar Rao.

Talking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan along with senior Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ajay Kumar, she said that she had never called KCR a "God-given brother" and said that it was in fact KCR who had called her his "God-given sister". She also said that KCR had not only suspended her from his party, but had also cheated her.

She claimed that she had left the Congress and joined the BJP with the sole objective of defeating KCR in Telangana, and that she had now returned to the Congress for the same objective. She said that the BJP's graph had dropped in Telangana after Bandi Sanjay's removal from the State party president post, necessitating her switch. She said that the BJP high command had ignored her plea to continue Sanjay in his post, and had removed him suddenly.

She expressed hope that the Congress would return to power in Telangana.
