Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha Kapoor on Saturday met Chief Minister K Rosaiah at his camp office and informed him of what she claims is the extra-constitutional role of city mayor Banda Kartika Reddy's husband Chandra Reddy during the GHMC ward committee elections.
The meeting assumed significance as the MLA had declared
open war on Thursday against the mayor, threatening to go to the party bosses quit as MLA.
According to sources, Jayasudha informed the CM of the role played by Kartika Reddy's husband Chandra Reddy in omitting the names of 4 candidates suggested by her for the ward committee elections. Demanding action against Chandra Reddy, she urged the CM to look into the issue, and sought suitable action on the leader.
Talking to reporters, Jayasudha said that Rosaiah promised to look into the issue after discussing it with Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas.
However, Jayasudha stated that she had no differences with Kartika Reddy. "I want only action against her husband Chandra Reddy for interferring in the selection of candidates for ward committee elections," she stated.
Earlier, Mayor Kartika Reddy denied that her husband had any role to play in the selection of ward panels, and informed this to the Chief Minister. She said the names suggested by Jayasudha were not considered as they had worked against the Congress party in the GHMC polls by supporting BJP candidates.
