Congress MLA from Secunderabad and former film actress Jayasudha has taken up cudgels against Mayor B Kartika Reddy's husband Banda Chandra Reddy, accusing him of interfering in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Ward Committee polls.
Jayasudha said that she would lodge a complaint against the Mayor and her husband with the party high command. She added that if the high command does not act on her complaint, then either she or Kartika Reddy would have to resign.
Jayasudha confronted Mayor Kartika Reddy on Thursday and said that the nominees proposed by her were ignored, while those candidates selected by her husband were under consideration.
Talking to media persons later, Jayasudha said that Chandra Reddy manipulated the polls to ensure that the nominees of his choice get elected as Ward Committee members.
Accusing him of interfering in the Ward Committee member selection process, she threatened to resign from her legislative seat if the names proposed by her do not figure among the Ward Committee lists.
Meanwhile, Chandra Reddy has defended himself, saying that Jayasudha can go ahead and resign. Kartika Reddy defended her husband by saying that it was a normal practice for the spouses of corporators to visit the Corporation office. She said that their visits did not amount to interference.
Kartika Reddy has responded to the attacks by saying that if Jayasudha complains against her, then she, too will be forced to respond to her complaint with one of her own.
