Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan said that his party would not contest in any election before the 2019 elections, and also that it would not extend its support to any party or any candidate before those elections.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Pawan Kalyan said that the party construction was going on at the field level, and only after the completion of that exercise would the party contest in the elections.
Pawan Kalyan chose to stay neutral for the Nandyal by-election. He said that he took the decision only after discussing with his party activists. He asked the voters not believe in anyone who said that the Jana Sena was extending its support to them.
That, however, is seen by many as indirectly helping the YSR Congress, since after Jana Sena supported the TDP in 2014, his choosing to distance himself from that party would be interpreted by his supporters as his opposing it.
