YSRCP Asks Lok Satta Party To Merge With TDP

Dubbing Lok Satta President Jayaprakash Narayan as the marketing agent of TDP President Chandrababu Naidu, YSRCP on Tuesday asked him to close shop and merge his party with the TDP.

Taking umbrage at Jayaprakash Narayan saying that he couldn't understand the Amma Vodi scheme mentioned in the YSRCP manifesto, party spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao asked the Lok Satta leader to behave like a politician.

"There is nothing complex in the scheme. The scheme is meant to encourage children in poor families to go to schools and colleges, and pursue a higher education for their future development in all respects," he said.

YSRCP President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy toured more than 30,000km meeting people and understanding their problems, Gattu added. "With a strong resolve that all children should pursue education for their economic well-being, our party President has incorporated the scheme in the election manifesto. Jayaprakash Narayan never goes near the people. How can he understand the important issues concerning the people, especially the poor?" he remarked.

Gattu said that most poor people were not sending their children to schools as they were handicapped economically.

"It is not that they don't want to send their children to schools. It is that they are unable to send them," he stated, adding that the Amma Vodi scheme is meant for such people.

Gattu further asked Jayaprakash Narayan to wind up his Lok Satta party and merge it with the TDP as he was acting on behalf of Naidu.

"What is the use of continuing the party in such circumstances?" he asked.

Gattu also came down heavily on JP for his comments against Jagan. "Jayaprakash Narayan frequently poses as a man of ethics. If that is true, why didn't he advise Chandrababu to face a probe into the allegations of corruption against him?" he asked. (INN)
