Telangana Jagruthi President K Kavitha today announced that Jagruthi would definitely contest the 2029 Assembly elections.
She also reiterated that her organisation's priority was to remain among the people irrespective of electoral considerations.
Addressing the press in Jogulamba Gadwal district as part of the Jagruthi Janam Bata, Kavitha said that even during her tenure as a Member of Parliament she had stayed connected with the public through the "Mana Ooru - Mana MP" initiative. She said that despite facing political defeat due to internal conspiracies within her own party, she continued to work for the people.
She said that she was later made an MLC against her wishes, and that that experience deeply hurt her, and that she would not return to the BRS under any circumstances.
Kavitha expressed grave concern over the alarming literacy levels in Gadwal district, particularly among women. She said that while the national literacy rate stood at around 80%, Gadwal lagged far behind, with female literacy as low as 23% in Ketheddoddi mandal. She questioned the lack of development despite the district being ruled by the same family for over 70 years, and urged the Chief Minister to take special measures to improve education, especially women's education.
She also strongly criticised the poor conditions of the roads, and added that illegal sand mining had damaged infrastructure and posed serious safety risks. She demanded immediate action if such activities were taking place without the Chief Minister's knowledge.
On irrigation, she said that projects such as Tummilla, RDS and Nettampadu were not being utilised to full capacity due to negligence. She emphasised that dispute-free RDS waters needed to be fully utilised, and practical solutions be provided to improve irrigation efficiency.
