Congress MLA and Telangana Congress working president T Jagga Reddy today said that he had postponed his decision to quit the party after the intervention of several seniors leaders in the party.
He also said that the party high command had asked him not to resign from the party.
Speaking to media persons, Reddy alleged that several leaders of the party were maligning his image, and that his detractors were also posting false messages about him on different social media.
He said that he was writing to the national president of the party Sonia Gandhi on the issue.
He said that he had also lodged a complaint against those who had posted the false messages against him on the social media.
Earlier, veteran leader V Hanumantha Rao met Reddy and asked him to not quit from the party.
Speaking to media persons, VHR claimed that the false social media posts were being posted against Jagga Reddy and him by their opponents.
He said that their opponents had morphed their pictures and created posts that the duo were joining the TRS.
He said that he had lodged a complaint on the issue with Jubilee Hills police.
He added that he would lodge a complaint on the issue with the Election Commission, too.
Meanwhile, party general secretary Bolli Kishan touched feet of Jagga Reddy and urged him to not resign from the party. And TPCC Senior Vice-President G Niranjan said that the episode was an unfortunate development in the party, and a result of not setting things right in a timely manner.
Reddy had created a sensation in the party yesterday by announcing that he was quitting it. However, several senior leaders pacified the three-time MLA from Sangareddy and convinced him to continue.
