Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy created a sensation today by announcing that he would shift from Tadepalli to Visakhapatnam soon.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Mulapeta greenfield port and a port oustees' colony at Noupada in Santha Bommali Mandal of Srikakulam district, Jagan said that he would shift to Vizag along with his family in September this year.
He said that he had taken the decision in order to ensure the equal development of the "three capitals" of the State, and that all the cities of the State needed to be developed to minimise the differences between them.
Speaking about the Mulapeta port, the CM said that the construction of the port would be completed in 24 months, and that its capacity would reach 100 million tonnes.
The port was expected to provide employment opportunities to 35,000 people, he said, and added that even more job opportunities would be created due to the port-based and affiliated organisations.
The CM said that the government had taken up the construction of 10 shipping yards in the last four years, and that it would take all the necessary steps to bring lights into the lives of the fishermen of the State.
Speaking about more developmental activities, he said that the government would lay the foundation stone for the construction of the Bhogapuram airport on May 3, and that six-lane roads would be laid to reach the airport.
He also said that the government would complete the linkage works of the Vamsadhara and Nagavali rivers in August of this year, and that the construction of a kidney research centre at Palasa for Uddanam kidney patients had neared completion.
He added that the government was also providing drinking water facility to the Ichapuram and Palasa Assembly constituencies by spending Rs 700 crore.
