Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday said that his government was planning to set up three capitals for the State.
He said that the idea was to set up the legislature capital at Amaravathi, the judicial capital at Kurnool and the executive capital at Visakhapatnam.
He made the statement while speaking in the State Assembly.
Jagan said that similar multiple capitals were already in existence in South Africa.
He said that the main objective was to ensure development of all the districts of the State.
He added that the government was waiting for the report of the expert committee, and that the committee would submit its report in a week. The government would take a decision on the issue after the submission of the report, he said.
