Jagan Forced MLAs: Katakam
Congress spokesperson Katakam Mrityunjaya alleged that Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had browbeaten the Congress MLAs into supporting him (Jagan) for the post of Chief Minist
Alleging that former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had "browbeaten" the Congress MLAs into supporting his candidature for the CM post even before his late father's last rites were performed, Congress spokesperson Katakam Mrityunjaya on Monday stated that Jagan would stop at nothing to come to power.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mrityunjaya alleged that Jagan had the post of the Chief Minister uppermost in his mind even as the people of the state were yet to come to terms with the tragic demise of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
It was this burning desire which had made Reddy browbeat the Congress MLAs, who were in a state of shock, to sign on letters extending support for his bid to become Chief Minister, Mrityunjaya stated.
"There was no need for these by-elections, but Jaganmohan Reddy realized that he was getting nowhere in his attempts to gain more power, and that was the reason behind his decision of resigning from the Congress and the Lok Sabha," Mrityunjaya said, and added, "People vote for the welfare and development carried out by the party, and not for someone who is as corrupt as Jaganmohan Reddy."
He expressed confidence that the Congress would win hands down in the by-elections, and added that if the High Command aprroves of D L Ravindra Reddy and Y S Vivekananda Reddy, the party would begin campaigning for them. (INN)
