Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Polavaram irrigation project.
In his letter, he urged the PM to approve the recommendations made by the CWC (Central Water Commission) concerning the project.
Saying that the Polavaram project was the lifeline of the state, he urged the Centre to focus on the project works and the problems being faced by the land oustees of the project.
Citing that the total estimated cost of the project was Rs. 55,656.87 crore as per the 2017-18 estimates, he told the PM that the project cost was likely to shoot up if there was any kind of delay in the release of the funds or the execution of the works.
Reminding the PM that Polavaram was a national project as per the AP Reorganization Act, he urged the PM to build the project as per the decision of the cabinet which was taken on April 29, 2014, and said that the Centre should bear the additional cost of the project if the cost escalated.
