YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy began an indefinite fast at his party office at Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills here, on Saturday.
Jagan launched the hunger strike in protest against the Union Cabinet's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out a Telangana state. He launched it along with other party leaders, at around 11:30am.
It may be mentioned here that Jagan undertook a similar fast for Samaikyandhra last month while he was lodged in Chanchalguda Jail in the Disproportionate Assets case. However, he was shifted to a hospital by the jail authorities, when his health condition deteriorated after five days.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the police, following threats by pro-Telangana groups that they would disrupt the fast. (INN
