Officials of the income tax department carried out searches on the premises of BRS MLAs Pailla Shekhar Reddy and Marri Janardhan Reddy, and MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, on Wednesday.
Reports suggest that a team of 70 officials simultaneously carried out searches at the properties of both the BRS MP and the two MLAs.
Inspections were carried out both in the residence and in the companies of Pailla Shekhar Reddy, the MLA of Bhuvanagiri in Yadadri district. 30 teams are working to search the residences, houses of relatives, and offices of the MLA. A total of 12 places are being searched, including his offices in Green Hills Colony, Kothapet, Hyderabad. Two of the companies he is associated with, Hill Land Technologies Private Limited and Mainland Digital Technologies Limited, are also being searched. Shekhar Reddy's wife Vanitha is the director of these two companies.
As for Marri Janardhan Reddy, the MLA of Nagarkurnool, the IT department targeted his shopping mall, and also conducted raids at J C Brothers in KPHB Colony.
In the case of Prabhakar Reddy, the Medak MP, the department raided his house in Gachibowli. And an irate Prabhakar Reddy termed it as politically motivated.
"I have no investments in any foreign companies and no collaborations with any. I just own a multi-national transportation company. The raid was just intended to malign my image. I never got any notice from the I-T department about the raid, and the I-T officials did not give any clear explanation for it either. Some television channels are also carrying misleading information on the raid," Reddy said.
