Bhuvanagiri Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy today alleged that injustice had been done to Telangana in the selections for the Padma awards.
"The awards were announced without considering the recommendations made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy," Reddy alleged.
The Congress MP said that despite Telangana completing ten years after its formation, the Central government continued to discriminate against the State.
"While priority is being given to all other States, the Narendra Modi government does not recognise Telangana, and that's why the State is being deliberately overlooked," he said.
Reddy also said that it was a matter of concern that despite Telangana having eight BJP MPs and two Cabinet ministers representing the State, the Centre ignored the CM's recommendations for the awards.
The Congress MP asked whether the neglect shown during KCR's tenure was being continued even now.
He urged the Union government to change its approach to the State and ensure that Telangana received its due recognition at least in the upcoming Union budget.
Reddy argued that the State contributed more taxes than most other States in the country, and said that now it was the responsibility of the Centre, and the eight BJP MPs and two Cabinet ministers representing the State, to uphold Telangana's pride and treat the State equitably in the budget allocations.
