When 7-year-old Sai Sriram complained to his teachers about how he had been scolded by his parents, he never dreamed that it would've led to their arrest nine months later. The parents, Chandrashekhar and Anupama, who were summoned to Oslo in Norway the week before the last only to be told that they were under arrest, have been sentenced to 18 months and 15 months in prison respectively.
The Hyderabadi couple, who were arrested for "repeated maltreatment" of their child, are befuddled as to the reason why, as, to an Indian, reprimanding your child for a percieved or real wrongdoing is as natural as breathing. Efforts of intervention are still on by the AP govt.
This is the second Indian couple in as many years to be in legal trouble at Norway over the maltreatment of their children.
