Raising a child is full of perils, and for an Indian couple who were living in Norway, these perils took a couple of steps further, when they were arrested for having allegedly "excessively discipled" their child.
The Chief Minister has asked Chief Secretary Minnie Matthew to intervene in the situation, following which an official of the Indian embassy in Oslo met Chandrashekhar Vallabhaneni, who is one of the main accused, in prison, and assured him that India would offer all the assistance it could.
This case of a much-delayed arrest comes nine years after the 7-year-old child of Chandrashekhar and Anupama had apparently mentioned at school that his parents had said they would send him back to India if he didn't stop urinating in his pants.
The couple, who were in India last week, had been summoned to Norway only to be arrested on Monday. The information, however, only reached their family on Thursday.
