Kidnapped Indian Baby Saanvi Found Murdered
The use of family nicknames in the ransom note was what caused the police to narrow their suspects down to friends and acquaintances.

A family friend's avarice led to the death of 10-month-old Sanvi, daughter of software engineer parents living in suburban Philadelphia, and her 61 year old grandmother.
The "friend" in question, 26-year-old Raghunandan Yandamuri, had hoped to hold the infant hostage for $50,000. However, he botched the plan, ended up fatally injuring her grandmother, and eventually killing the little girl as well, albeit accidentally.
A lenthy ransom note left by Yandamuri to the baby's parents held threats of killing the child if they didn't leave the money at a nearby supermarket. "It's up to you to decide, do you want your 1-year-old or five months of your income?", read the note.
In an event of trajic irony, Yandamuri then dropped the baby as he struggled with her, a kitchen knife, and a vigilant grandmother. He then went on to stuff a handkerchief in the child's mouth to quiet her, and put her in a suitcase.
The use of family nicknames in the ransom note was what caused the police to narrow their suspects down to friends and acquaintances, said Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman. While the authorities were hopeful of finding the child alive despite a week of fruitless searching, these were dashed when the found the baby's corpse in a bloody white dress under a bench in the victims' apartment complex.
Amidst jeers and taunts from an angry public, as he was led into court on Friday, it was decided that Yandamuri would be held without bail on charges of two murders, robbery, and kidnapping, until a preliminary hearing scheduled for next week.
