Kiran Kumar Reddy greets the people of Andhra Pradesh on the eve of the 67th Indian Independence Day.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy greeted the people of Andhra Pradesh on the eve of the 67th Indian Independence Day.
In an Independence Day message, the Chief Minister said, "Today is certainly the memorable and momentous day in the life of every Indian, a day of happiness and pride for all of us. We are proud to be the people of an independent India. We are proud of our country. We are proud of our democracy. We are proud of our cherished values and ideals. But we should also remember that it has taken the sacrifices of lakhs of Indians to bring us the freedom, and for us to become a sovereign democratic republic. Our well-being and progress have been built upon the foundation of the hard work and sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the brave jawans of our armed forces, our farmers, our workers, our scientists and technocrats".
He recalled the services of all martyrs who had laid down their lives for the freedom and security of our country. "The best way of paying homage to those brave sons of our country will be to resolve that we will always stay committed to strengthening the unity and integrity of our nation. Let us all together take a vow that we will spare no effort to take India to greater heights," he said.
Kiran Kumar Reddy took the opportunity to talk about his government's welfare schemes, and said that the government is dedicated and committed to see that the fruits of the welfare measures reach their true beneficiaries. He cited the examples of Rachabanda, Indiramma Bata, Bangaru Thalli, Indiramma Kalalu, Mee Seva and Amrutha Hastham in this regard.
The Chief Minister said that the Rajiv Yuva Kiranaalu program was launched to help the youth of the state find employment, and said there were similar schemes to help farmers and women as well.
He quoted Jawaharlal Nehru's, speech on the midnight of 14/15 August, 1947, "Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India awakes to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment, we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity".
The CM said youth must draw inspiration from the leaders of our freedom movement and dedicate themselves to the task of nation-building. "Let us pledge to uphold the integrity and sovereignty of our nation, and unite to steer India to greater heights," he added. (INN)
