It's not news when a YSR Congress Party MLA or leader defects to another Party. It is when it happens the other way round.
In efforts to survive and boost the sagging morale of its rank and file, the YSRCP appears to be trying to ensnare senior district level leaders belonging other Parties.
Former MLA Murali Krishna of the Kodumuru Assembly constituency in the Kurnool district today joined the YSRCP in the presence of Party supremo and Leader of Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Jagan welcomed Murali Krishna by wrapping him in a Party scarf.
Krishna had won the Kodumuru seat on a Congress ticket in the 2009 elections by defeating Mani Gandhi. However, Gandhi won this seat in 2014 on a YSRCP ticket, and defected to the TDP recently.
Kodumuru is a seat reserved for SC candidates. It was considered a citadel of the Congress until Gandhi won the seat in 2014 on a YSRCP ticket.
Jagan, after returning from New Delhi, appears to have changed his strategy of defence to one of counter-poaching and trying to trap senior district leaders of the Congress and TDP in Andhra Pradesh.
