Illiterate Modi Not Aware Of Telangana History: Revanth Reddy

The TPCC President accused the PM of insulting the people of Telangana by making baseless and irrelevant references to the state during his speech.
Hyderabad | 8th February 2022
TPCC President & MP A Revanth Reddy today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of insulting the people of Telangana by making baseless and irrelevant references to the state during his (Modi's) speech on the Presidential address in Parliament.

Addressing the media in New Delhi on Tuesday, Reddy said that the Prime Minister was anti-Telangana and didn't know anything about the formation of the state.

He said that Modi was aware of neither Telangana's history nor the Parliamentary procedures.

"Modi is apparently unaware that voting on a Bill in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is done by keeping all the doors closed till the completion of the process. He is illiterate and totally ignorant of these procedures. I doubt if he is capable of reading even ABCD," Reddy said.

He said that the speeches of earlier Prime Ministers, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh used to be of a very high standard, and that the common people use to listen to them with great interest and curiosity. However, Modi had brought disrespect to the post of Prime Minister by indulging in extremely cheap and dirty politics in his speeches, he said.

The TPCC chief also said that the people of Telangana had expected justice and a fair share for the state in the union budget for 2022-23. They had also expected the union government to fulfil the promises that were made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act at the time of Telangana's formation in 2014.

While no such assurance was given in the budget speech, Narendra Modi, in his reply to the Presidential Address, had made things worse by speaking nonsense which did not suit the stature of the Prime Minister, Reddy said.

No Prime Minister, from Jawaharlal Nehru to Dr Manmohan Singh, had spoken in the manner that Modi did, stooping to the lowest possible level, Reddy alleged.

"He has no respect for the legislature and has not shown even the minimum respect for the people of Telangana," Reddy said.

He said that all the district units of the Telangana Congress had been directed to burn effigies of Modi in protest against his remarks against Telangana.

Reddy also slammed the TRS MPs for remaining silent in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha when Modi was making the serious remarks against Telangana.

He reiterated the allegation that the TRS and the BJP were two sides of the same coin, and were working for mutual benefit.

Stating that the BJP was almost non-existent in Telangana, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was targeting the saffron party just to create a false impression that the Congress did not exist in the state.

Similarly, Modi had now tried to provide oxygen to the dying TRS by inciting Telangana sentiments.

However, such stunts would not work any more as the people of Telangana had realized that both the TRS and the BJP had repeatedly cheated them on multiple fronts, Reddy claimed.
