Sand Being Stolen From Himayathsagar

A HMWSSB team has arrested drivers of tippers illegally quarrying sand from the Himayathsagar Reservoir.

A vigilance team from Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Saturday raided and seized 4 tippers, carrying soil dug up illegally from the Himayathsagar Reservoir.

The team which carried out the raid was led by the Circle Inspector B Srihari, along with Operations and Maintenance General Manager D Sridhar Babu and Manager (Engineering), and staff.

The soil dug up illegally at the Himayathsagar Reservoir was intended to be sold for commercial purposes to purchasers in Kavvaguda village in Shamshabad Mandal.

The HMWSSB team booked cases against the drivers of the tippers, and handed them over to Shamshabad police station.

The Vigilance Police also seized 11 motors used illegally to draw water from taps at Lambada Basthi, Ambedkar Nagar, under Tarnaka Section of O & M, Division VII, Marredpally.

The Vigilance Police disconnected 2 illegal water supply connections at GM Nagar and one illegal connection at Poosala Basthi, Saidabad - both under O & M Division II. (INN)
