The vigilance police, led by confidential informant (CI) B Sri Hari, registered a criminal case against one Hassem Khan Quadri, a resident of Nayeem Nagar in Bahadurpura.
Quadri had taken an illegal water connection for his residence, and it was reported to the HMWSSB by an informer.
The HMWSSB made a statement saying that it has been receiving complaints from the public about illegal connections. The names of the complainants have been kept confidential, the board said.
The statement also said that the Board is acting promptly in disconnecting these illegal connections and registering criminal cases.
Meanwhile, the HMWSSB stated that the water supplied from the Mir Alam filter may be discoloured, but it is safe to drink.
The board said that chemical analysis reports do not show any harmful substances in water, so the water can be consumed. As a precautionary measure, the water can be boiled before consumption, it added.
