GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on Friday directed Town Planning officials to lodge police complaints whenever they found any ongoing cellar construction dangerous.
The Commissioner held a review meeting with Town Planning officials and enquired about the status report on the verification of ongoing cellar constructions.
He asked the officials to fill the cellars with debris if the builders failed to respond positively.
Of 130 ongoing cellar constructions in all 18 Circles of the GHMC, a total of 58 cellars were found to be dangerous, he said.
Somesh Kumar said that the GHMC had identified 1,538 dilapidated structures, of which most are in circle nos. 4, 8, 9 and 18.
Of them, 805 building owners had taken up corrective measures, and 733 were leftover cases.
In view of the monsoons, the Commissioner directed the officials to conduct street-wise surveys to identify weak structures. (INN)
