Woman Crushed As Car Falls From Bio-Diversity Flyover
A woman died on the spot and three others were grievously injured after a car fell down from the newly-constructed bio-diversity flyover in Gachibowli.
A woman died on the spot and three others were grievously injured after a car fell down from the newly-constructed bio-diversity flyover in Gachibowli on Saturday and crashed onto the road below.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan immediately rushed to the spot and, expressing shock over the accident, ordered the officials concerned to suspend vehicular traffic on the flyover for three days.
He also announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
Police said that the car, a red Volkswagen GTI, overturned and fell on the woman, a Satyaveni, who was waiting for an auto under the flyover along with her daughter.
The woman was crushed under the car, which was completely damaged. The daughter, however, escaped with only minor injuries.
The injured were identified as Milan Krishna, 27; Balu Naik, 38; and M S Kubra, 23. They were all admitted to the Care Hospital at Gachibowli.
Police said that the incident appeared to be a case of rash driving - the car was speeding at 104 kmph, and after losing control, hit the flyover railing and went hurtling onto the road below.
Vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt after the accident.
The police registered a case and took up investigation.
