Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar today ordered the closure of wine/toddy shops and the bars attached to restaurants (excluding the bars in hotels with multiple star rankings and in registered clubs) within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad ahead of Holi, which will be celebrated on March 28 and 29.
All other wine shops and bars have been instructed to remain closed from 6:00 pm on March 28 to 6:00 am on March 30.
The Commissioner also issued a warning to sellers that any establishment found to be violating the closure notice will be dealt with strictly.
In a separate order, the police also prohibited the throwing of colours on roads and at public places on Holi.
The movement of two-wheelers and other vehicles in groups, causing disruptions in the law and order situation or causing inconvenience to others has been prohibited. Kumar said that any person found violating the orders will be prosecuted.
Apart from this, all the cattle slaughter houses and retail beef shops that fall within the limits of the GHMC will remain closed on March 29.
In this regard, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar has instructed concerned civic body officials to extend their support to the municipal staff in carrying out the orders.
