Laying the foundation stone for 396 2-bedroom houses at IDH and 4 adjacent colonies at Bhoiguda, the Telangana CM promised such houses in all identified slums.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasheker Rao announced that Hyderabad would be a slum-free city.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of 396 houses at IDH Colony and 4 adjacent colonies at Bhoiguda in Secunderabad on Friday, the Chief Minister announced that people living in slums would be given 2-bedroom flats.
He said that Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Rao had briefed him about the dilapidated conditions of the houses in IDH Colony, and therefore a decision was taken to demolish the existing structures and begin construction of new houses on a war footing.
KCR said that IDH Colony would be a model colony, with each flat of 520 sq ft costing around Rs 7.90 lakhs.

He informed that he would convey a meeting with all the elected representatives within 10 days to take a collective decision on the construction of houses in the identified slums.
He also requested the Central Government to join hands with the State Government to take up joint housing schemes.
Upon Talasani's request, the Chief Minister inspected another slum situated at Sanjeevaiah Park near Necklace Road.
Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav presided over the function. Excise Minister T Padma Rao, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumanth Rao, Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya and other leaders and senior officials participated in the event.
