Chief Secretary K Pradip Chandra today held a special task force meeting on the progress of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project, and told his officials that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted to see the metro project being completed on time and would extend all necessary financial and technological support.
GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, Minorities Welfare Secretary Omer Jaleel, IG Stamps & Registration Ahmed Nadeem, Hyderabad Joint Collector M Prashanthi, HMRL chief engineer Mohammad Ziauddin, and other senior officers of the HMRL, GHMC and other government departments were present in the meeting.
Giving a detailed presentation on the progress of the works, HMRL Managing Director N V S Reddy informed the CS that 61 km of foundations, 58 km of pillars and 49 km of viaduct had been completed and the project execution picked up pace since the last time the Chief Minister reviewed it.
The Chief Secretary directed the Hyderabad Collector to expedite the acquisition of the lands in Sultan Bazar, Badichowdi and Putlibowli areas for the project (consents for which were already acquired from the owners).
He also asked the GHMC Commissioner and the land acquisition officer to expedite the acquisition of the remaining lands in Yousufguda and Jubilee Hills, as they were long pending.
